CPU cooler: Liquid cooling vs air cooling

So, how does one decide which cooler is the best? Should you go for a radiator based cooler, a water cooler, or a water cooling blade? How about liquid cooling systems, or a passively cooled system? These are certain questions that arise when people compare the differences among the three main types of coolers available today.

Typically, heat sinks are used with liquid cooling systems. The liquid metal containers are also located in the case, which helps keep air circulation tight and keeps the components stable.

Now, let us look at the comparisons of these two systems. If you have a desktop computer with a typical mother board, which has one slot for each component except the memory, the heat sink will be the most effective. It takes only one slot to accommodate the heat sink components. 

However, if you have an air cooled processor, it is often necessary to place two slots. This means that a two cooling systems are needed for a desktop processor, which may cause a price difference between normal and water coolers.

If you are looking for the most efficient way to cool your computer, you should look at a water cooler as opposed to a heat sink. Although a heat sink can help move heat away from the computer, it actually has to draw the heat away first. Heat sinks require a liquid to be placed in them. If the liquid is not heated first, it will just sit there, doing nothing to cool the computer. This is what makes heat sinks much more expensive than a regular cooler.

On the other hand, a water cooler allows for constant air flow so that the processor can maintain a constant temperature. A water cooler does not need a liquid to be placed inside it, so you will not be losing any power to heat the liquid. 

Therefore, the power that is used to heat up the liquid will not be wasted, and you will be able to keep your processor at a constant cool temperature. When comparing a normal CPU cooler with a heat sink, it is a little bit harder to determine which one is better.

The overall efficiency of a water cooler is what makes it the most beneficial cooler to purchase. However, if you are looking for the most efficient way to cool your computer, you should look at a normal CPU cooler. If you do not have a lot of room for a tower, you can purchase a tower stand.
